NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh sums up his excitement on the agreement with the minority Liberals, calling it a milestone.
”We’ve secured something really important. I would say really historic for Canadians.”
As recently reported the deal is said to include funding for diabetes medications and contraceptives.
Sources say the legislation, that’s to be tabled next week, does not create a national pharmacare program.
Rather it takes steps toward one by legislating single-payer coverage for the specific diabetes and birth-control medications.
Nearly two years ago, the NDP agreed to a deal with the Liberals where New Democrats would support the minority government on key votes to remain in office in return for concessions on things such as pharmacare, dental care and anti-scab legislation.
