The day after the Conservative Thornhill MP had her constituency officer vandalized with anti-Israel posters plastered over the windows, we learn Melissa Lantsman has been seen with a protective detail in recent weeks.

A Tory party official confirms she has RCMP protection, but does not say why.

 

 

She’s not alone as Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly also has protection.

Anti-Israel protesters appeared outside her Montreal home earlier this year.

Same with Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland and Emergency Preparedness Minister Harjit Sajjan as well as NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh.

The prime minister and governor-general have permanent police protection while others get it on a ”case-by-case basis,” according to the RCMP.

Threats against politicians have become more common and serious in recent years due to factors such as the Middle East war, Freedom Convoy protests and Canada’s accusation India was involved in last year’s assassination of a Sikh leader in B.C.
