More good news … motorists.

The Ford government says legislation it intends to introduce next week after MPPs return from winter break, will include a proposed ban on tolls on provincial highways, including the Gardiner and DVP, and 400-series highways.

Not the 407 though as it’s privately-run.

Queen’s Park is uploading the Don Valley Parkway and Gardiner Expressway from the city as part of the premier’s new funding deal with Toronto to assure drivers those will remain free to use.

It will be included in legislation to be tabled in a few days that, if passed, would also include a permanent freeze on drivers’ licence and photo card fees as well as the automatic renewal of licence plates that is expected to start this summer.
