NOTED VETERAN CELLIST DIES AT 60

An Argentinian-born cellist, who enjoyed an international performing career including stops in Toronto and Montreal, has died after a battle with brain cancer.

Antonio Lysy was most recently cello professor at The University of California.

He appeared with the Toronto and Montreal Symphony Orchestras, the Royal Philharmonic of London and the Israel Sinfonietta among many others.

He also recorded extensively for CBC, BBC and several other European radio networks.
