The federal NDP leader has issued a warning.

Jagmeet Singh says if the minority Trudeau Liberals don’t make good on pharmacare legislation by March, it would kill the Liberal-NDP political pact.

Singh told reporters in Ottawa Wednesday, he had a tough meeting on Monday with Justin Trudeau and told the prime minister that the New Democrats expect pharmacare legislation by the first of March.

“I made it clear that this is something we’re very serious about, but we’re not going to extend (the date) any further. We are very serious that pharmacare has to be delivered. We need to see legislation, next steps,” Singh explained, “And I made it very clear, I put him on notice that we expect this by March 1st, otherwise there will be repercussions.”

Singh says there are fundamental differences between the parties about how pharmacare should work.

The NDP’s supply and confidence deal with the Trudeau Liberals promises for NDP MPs to support the minority government on key votes in exchange for movement on shared priorities until 2025.
