In a rare show of solidarity, none of the three prominent groundhogs who predict this sort of thing every February 2nd, saw their shadow this morning and that means early spring.

The last to weigh in was Ontario’s Wiarton Willie who just like his counterparts in Nova Scotia and Pennsylvania failed to see his shadow.

First off the mark this morning was Shubenacadie Sam.  About an hour later, in Gobler’s Knob, it was Punxsutawney Phil.  All failing to see their shadows, make’s the call for an early spring three out of three.

By the way, the experts who study such things, say the groundhog get it wrong about 61 per cent of the time.
