Former NHL and CFL football player turned actor Carl Weathers has passed away ”peacefully in his sleep.”

 

 

While he appeared in movies such as ”Happy Gilmore,” ”Predator,” and most recently in ”The Mandalorian,” Weathers will best be remembered for portraying undisputed heavyweight world champ Apollo Creed in ”Rocky.”

He appeared in the first four ”Rocky” movies before dying in the ring in ”Rocky IV.”

Weathers once said in a 1996 interview that he patterned Creed after Muhammad Ali; one of the many stars he idolized for breaking the mold and color barrier.
