What kind of parent were you or what kind of parent is your child or children?

Did you or do they constantly say ”be careful” ?

New recommendations from the Canadian Paediatric Society say stop, that kids should be encouraged to do all kinds of outdoor activities like climbing a tree or tobogganing, as they promote physical and mental health and are important for children’s development.

”Even situations where there isn’t that much danger, we may actually provoke more anxiety and more fear than is necessary,” says Dr. Suzanne Beno, one of the report’s co-authors and an emergency physician at Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

She adds it’s important to distinguish risk from hazard.

”There may be a risk towards climbing to the top of the play structure or climbing a tree,” Beno points out.

”As long as it’s thrilling and exciting for that child, that’s actually risky play, as they’re figuring out how much they can do.”
