Amid a report that they’ve been asked to surrender to police in London, Ontario to face charges, four current NHL players and one former NHLer; now playing in Switzerland, have received indefinite leave over the past several days.

The pending charges, according to the Globe & Mail, are related to an alleged group sexual assault of a woman in a hotel room.

It’s alleged to have happened after a Hockey Canada fundraising gala in June 2018 in London, where the players were honoured for winning the championship.

The five, who have not been charged yet, have a set period of time to go to police headquarters in London.

Saying there is significant public interest, a police news release says a news conference will be held Monday February 5 to share further details in relation to a sexual assault investigation dating back to 2018.
