The real possibility of a second Donald Trump presidency is not only top of mind of Americans but also of the federal cabinet at its retreat in Montreal.

 

 

Saying bilateral relations are fundamental for the well-being of and for the prosperity of Canadians, Justin Trudeau announced the trade and industry ministers would lead a Team Canada approach, working with our ambassador to Washington.

”Including businesses, entrepreneurs, organized labour, civil society groups, different orders of government, to make sure that we’re ready to continue to benefit as Canadians from a strong relationship with he United States,” said the prime minister.

The ”engagement strategy” is similar to what Ottawa undertook after Trump’s election in 2016.

”We know there’s always challenges whenever there’s an American election, but as we have before, we are going to be ready to deal with whatever gets tossed at us.”
