As international Holocaust Remembrance Day approaches, we’re learning that almost 250-thousand Holocaust survivors are still alive and scattered around the world.

A new report called “Holocaust Survivors Worldwide. A Demographic Overview,” states that nearly 49% of holocaust survivors are living in Israel, 18% in Western Europe, 16% in Canada and the United States and 12 %in countries of the former Soviet Union.

The vast majority of today’s survivors were children born after 1928.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is Saturday, January 27th but in advance of that, Classical FM is presenting a concert tonight featuring three exceptional musicians performing music that was written in honour of the six million Jewish victims of the Holocaust.
