Washington and Ottawa may feel it’s needed to have long lasting peace in the Middle East, but Benjamin Netanyahu has announced he’s told the White House he opposes the establishment of a Palestinian state.
”In any future arrangement … Israel needs security control of all territory west of the Jordan,” the Israeli leader told a nationally broadcast news conference.
”The prime minister needs to be capable of saying no to our friends.”
He also again promised to continue the offensive until Israel realizes a ”decisive victory over Hamas.”
American Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s told the World Economic Forum’s annual meeting in Switzerland that Israel cannot achieve ”genuine security” without a path to a Palestinian state, insisting that it could actually help unify the region while isolating Israel’s top rival – Iran.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said Canada ”remains firm and steadfast in our commitment to a two -state solution.”
