As we get into some extreme cold here in Toronto this week, a new poll suggests Canadian attitudes toward climate change are about as consistent as the weather.
A January Leger online poll of more than 1500 Canadians found 75-percent of respondents believe the balmy December we experienced was the result of climate change, while 81-percent actually enjoyed the milder temps.
At the same time, two-thirds of respondents say they are worried by the weirdly warm weather we had last month.
Similarly, solid majorities say Canada is experiencing more wildfires, smoky conditions, heat waves, and late-onset winters but the same solid majority of respondents say they have not been personally affected.
Leger Vice-President Christian Bourque says this poll shows a pattern of concern about climate issues that is consistent across all demographics.
