Former U.S. president Donald Trump is heading back to court for closing arguments in his New York civil fraud trial.
Trump had been planning on delivering his own summation Thursday, but a judge squashed that notion.
Judge Arthur Engoron initially supported the idea but pulled permission after Trump’s lawyer missed a deadline for agreeing to limits on his remarks.
Among those limits, the judge warned that Trump “may not deliver a campaign speech” or impugn him, his adversaries and court staff.
Trump’s reappearance at the civil trial comes just days before the Iowa caucuses kick off the presidential primary season, and is part of a very hectic legal and political stretch for him.
