Jeremy Hansen is just going to have to wait to become the first Canadian astronaut to orbit the moon.

The 47-year-old London, Ontario native is assigned to Artemis II as a mission specialist.

The trip involves a lunar flyby, performing a figure-eight manoeuvre around the far side of the moon before returning.

The November target launch date for the first crewed mission to the moon in half-a-century has been moved to September 2025 because of technical issues and to allow for more preparation.

The Artemis III mission, that’ll send humans to the moon’s south pole, is being postponed from 2025 to 2026.

However Artemis IV remains on track to blast off in 2028.
