One person has been charged with 1st-degree murder in the death of an infant in Vaughan, north of Toronto.

York Regional Police received a call about an injured person on Wade Gate, near Dufferin and Centre streets, at about 6:10 pm Thursday night.

When police arrived, they found the baby in distress.

The child was rushed to a local hospital, where they were pronounced dead.

Neighbours say a young couple and an infant lived in the home.

Police say they are not looking for any other suspects.
