Dame Shirley Bassey and movie director Ridley Scott are being honoured once again in the UK, this time by elevating their standing within the Order of the British Empire.
Bassey, who is now 88, was appointed to the Order of the Companions of Honour for her services to music and said she was truly humbled by the achievement.
Ridley Scott, who is 86 and whose films include “Gladiator,” “Alien” and more recently “Napoleon,” was recognized for his services to the U.K. movie industry, by being elevated to Knight Grand Cross, which upgraded his previous knighthood.
The two were among more than 1,000 Brits celebrated this year for their achievements and services to the country.
