A 24-year-old student is believed to have taken his own life after killing at least 14 and wounding 25 at Charles University in central Prague.
Authorities say they received warning about the philosophy student from the school before the mass shooting.
Investigators believe he was responsible but have not officially identified the gunman due to the severity of his injuries.
He had a gun permit and several weapons.
Authorities helped frightened students evacuate after they’d locked themselves in classrooms.
One photo on social media shows some climbed out a window and hid on the ledge of a university building.
Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala said there was ”absolutely no explanation, no justification” for the ”senseless attack.”
It’s believed to be an isolated incident, not an act of terror or attack by an organized group.
A man believed to be the gunman’s father was found dead in a town about 160 kilometres from the Republic’s capital.
