An Ottawa teen charged in an an alleged plot against the city’s Jewish community appears in court today. The youth was arrested Friday and R-C-M-P say there have now been five Canadian youth arrested on terror-related cases since June.

Ottawa’s Mayor issues a statement on the weekend expressing his shock.

Sarah Beutel with the Jewish Federation of Ottawa is asking people to report any suspicious behaviour to police.

“Words lead to hateful acts and lead to potential violence so here is a perfect example of unchecked hate online that’s lead to a potentially disastrous and violent situation.”

Two days before the Ottawa youth was arrested, the R-C-M-P arrested a 16-year-old in Calgary related to an ongoing terrorism investigation in that city.
