A retired navy reservist says recent dealings with Veterans Affairs has left him frustrated and upset.
Stephen LaSalle suffering a training injury in 2018 and had to have his lower leg amputated.
The agency paid for a hydraulic lift to get his wheelchair in-and-out of his truck, but won’t pay for a cover to protect it from the elements.
Veterans Affairs says their obligation is to consider the “simplest option” to meet the needs of veterans.
LaSalle says that leaves him with a wheelchair that is often times cold and wet.
