RYAN O'NEAL, STAR OF 'LOVE STORY' ' PAPER MOON,' DIES AT 82

Amateur boxer, turned actor Ryan O’Neal has passed away.

No cause has been given but the 82-year-old was diagnosed with leukemia in 2001 and prostate cancer in 2012.

O’Neal’s acting career began in 1960 and 4-years later he landed the role of Rodney Harrington on the nighttime soap ”Peyton Place.”

It was a hit and helped lead to movie roles such as Harvard preppie Oliver opposite Ali MacGraw in the 1970 box office hit ”Love Story,” which earned O’Neal — Oscar and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actor.

 

 

Other credits included 1972’s ”What’s Up Doc?” with Barbra Streisand, ”Paper Moon” the following year that featured daughter Tatum O’Neal.

Twice divorced, he had a relationship with actor Farrah Fawcett from 1979 to 1997.

They reunited in 2001 and were together until her death in 2009.
