Phil Verster keeps pushing the light rapid train down the unfinished Eglinton Crosstown track.
The Metrolinx CEO is not any closer to revealing a possible opening date than he’s been in the past.
During a tour of the Yonge station, where the ”final pieces of construction are now nearing completion,” Verster says they’re not going to be drawn in on a date.
”We are not going to guess which year it is,” he adds.
Verster goes on to say it would not be responsible or sensible to declare a date now but promises ”an absolute commitment that once we get through the risks, defects, issues, that we are seeing, finding and fixing, that we will declare a date.”
He recently made similar remarks November 30.
Construction on the 19-kilometre,25-station light rail transit line began in 2011 and was supposed to initially be finished by 2020.
