A new guide released from the United States Department of Homeland Security intends to help churches, synagogues, mosques and other houses of worship protect themselves during heightened tensions in faith-based communities across America.
An arm of the department known as the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency works with faith groups across the U.S. to help protect against violence directed at their institutions and their congregants.
CISA’s David Mussington says the aim of the 16-page document released Wednesday is to offer functional information presented in clear, simple language.
Mussington says the guide has been in the works for several months in response to concerns voiced from various faiths about how to best protect themselves.
