No need to ask when, flu season’s already arrived in this country.
The Public Health Agency of Canada says the rate of tests that were positive stayed above its threshold of 5% for two straight weeks.
As of November 25, 7.5% of those tested for influenza across Canada were positive.
Mount Sinai Hospital Dr. Allison McGeer says the number of cases is rising and that there’ll be a lot of flu going around in a few weeks.
The hospital’s infectious disease specialist adds that means now is a good time to get the flu shot as it takes about two weeks to prime immune systems.
McGeer also says the dominant strain now will be influenza A type H1N1, which is a good match for the vaccine.
