The City is proposing temporary ”moderate raises” of 3% in the price of water and solid waste management services.

If approved at the council meeting December 13 – 15, starting New Year’s Day interim rates would take effect.

Garbage collection is based on the size of a household’s grey bin.

After a 3% increase, any resident with a small bin would pay $295.29 (a hike of $8.60), $358.47 for a medium bin (an additional $10.44), $486.86 for a large (up by $14.18) and $564.71 for an extra-large bin ($16.45 more than this year).

As for the water bill, the average household would be charged another $30 per-year.

These rates would remain until final ones are figured out during the budget process that gets underway January 10.
