A group of 32 more Canadians has left Gaza for Egypt and eventually home.

That makes for a total of 107.

Another 500 are still waiting to join them.

Some from the first group of 75,who made their way through the Rafah border crossing into Egypt on Tuesday, arrived earlier today at Pearson International.

Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly says the numbers are consistent with other countries similar to ours and that Ottawa had called on Israel and Egypt to permit the evacuations.

The federal government’s hoping now that Israel has agreed to allow daily, four-hour pauses in its offensive, that’ll make it easier for all the Canadians to leave for home.

U.S. President Joe Biden says he had asked the Israelis for a ”pause longer than three days” during negotiations over the release of some hostages held by Hamas, although he’s ruled out the possibility of a formal ceasefire at the moment.
