Next spring, some 300 photos from a collection owned by music legend Sir Elton John and his Canadian husband David Furnish will go on display at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.
Sir Elton began collecting the pics after getting sober in the 1990s and now he and Furnish own one of the world’s largest photo collections in private hands.
The presentation is to be called “Fragile Beauty” and covers the work of more than 140-photographers. Included are portraits of celebrities like Marilyn Monroe, Miles Davis and Chet Baker, historic moments from the US civil rights movement, 1980s AIDS activism and the September 11, 2021 terror attacks.
The images, many of which have never been on public display, will be shown from May of 2024 through January 2025.
