As the Greenbelt fallout continues, support for Doug Ford’s Progressive Conservatives is sliding.

A new Abacus poll gives the governing Tories 27-percent among eligible voters, down from 29 percent two weeks ago.

But the PCs are still ahead of the leaderless Liberals who have 22-percent with the opposition NDP in third at 21-percent.

But its the Progressive Conservatives’ support among committed voters that’s telling. It’s down 7 percentage points from 41-percent since July 25th.

In that time period, there have been major developments in the Greenbelt scandal including a scathing report from the auditor general, then the integrity commissioner. There have also been the resignations of Steve Clark as housing minister and his former chief of staff, Ryan Amato.

The new housing minister, Paul Calandra, plans to take questions from reporters at 10 Wednesday morning following the premier’s appearance Tuesday when Doug Ford promised a full review of Greenbelt land.

Ford did not provide details, but says the review will include not just the 14 lands already removed, but the 800 lands right across the board.

“Once they’re finalized, we’ll release them. We’re going to show how these builders, these landowners are going to spend billions of dollars to support the community they’re building. They’re going to be building parks, community centres. They’re going to be building hospitals and long term care and we have all the confidence in the world in the facilitator, non partisan, and they’ll be working hand in hand.”

Despite the re-evaluation, Ford says progress will continue on developing the sites already removed from the Greenbelt.
