Security incidents on the TTC are down and the transit agency says it’s an indication that measures to boost safety are working.
It reports incidents are down almost 33% from January when the TTC announced it would spend $5 million to improve safety following a series of violent incidents.
These included increased presence of special constables, supervisors, trained community safety ambassadors and outreach teams.
The TTC is also working with the city’s shelter and housing support staff, police and Toronto Public Health.
The data comes from the city’s new online dashboard that went live Monday that keeps track of safety and security incidents on public transit.
Public safety on the TTC has been an issue on the Toronto Mayoral campaign trail.
