We’re being told to expect cleaner air over the weekend with Environment Canada cancelling its special air quality statement.
The above picture was taken this week as Toronto experienced some of the worst air quality in the world, driven by wildfire smoke from Quebec and northeastern Ontario.
However, this is not expected to be a isolated incident with some experts as advising we can expect these conditions to return.
University of British Columbia environmental writer Edward Struzik says most of these wild fires are ignited by lighting and climate change is making a bad situation worse.
To make matters even worse, he says we’ve been draining wetlands, which he calls the fire fighter’s best friend, and concludes they can no long stop the fires in the wild.
