Wednesday June 7th marks a significant point in the race for Toronto’s next mayor.
It is the much anticipated CARP mayoral debate here at the ZoomerPlex in Zoomer Hall, moderated by Libby Znaimer.
It takes place just eight months after the last Toronto mayoral debate which ultimately saw John Tory win a third term and then resign in disgrace in February.
The 8 leading candidates are taking part with Anthony Furey and Chloe Brown joining the other 6 who’ve been the mainstays in previous debates.
CARP’s Chief Community Officer and Chief Electoral Officer Anthony Quinn says there are a number of issues in the mayoral campaign that affect older residents.
“The goal for CARP to participate in debates is to ensure that issues that are important to our demographic, to older voters, are on the minds of the candidates and are discussed prior to the election. But the issues important to older voters aren’t just based on their age. They care about the TTC, they care about security, they care about the general decline they see here in the city,” Quinn explained to Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer.
The 90 minute event begins at noon and can be heard live on Zoomer Radio. The video event will also be live streamed on all of the ZoomerMedia platforms including zoomerradio.ca, blogTO.com, along with carp.ca.
