The number of out-of-control forest fires burning across the country increased from 87 to 93 overnight according to Federal Emergency Preparedness Minister Bill Blair.
In the Halifax area, wildfires have destroyed more than 150 homes and Friday, residents boarded buses to get a look at what little remains of where they used to live.
Chief administrative officer Cathie O’Toole also surveyed the damage.
“When I say scarred community, aside from the damage to individual homes it’s damage at a community level.”
More than 16,000 people have been forced to flee their homes since the wildfire began on Sunday.
