The votes are in, and the CAA’s worst road in Ontario is Barton Street East in Hamilton, while four roads in the City of Toronto are in the top ten.

Lakeshore Boulevard East is in 9th place, Steeles Avenue East is in 7th, Finch Avenue West in fifth, and Eglinton Avenue West is in second place.

Teresa Di Felice is with CAA South Central Ontario and says it’s a repeat performance.

“Eglinton Avenue East and Eglinton Avenue West have been on the list,” Di Felice explained, “We saw the eastern portion fall of this year and of course the work continues along the west path. Eglinton Avenue West has a bit of a history with being under a lot of construction. The top reasons people took to the worst roads campaign to indicate Eglinton Avenue West was because of pavement surface. It’s a bumpy ride as well as traffic congestion.”

Mississauga’s Hurontario Street rounds out the CAA’s top ten worst roads in the province.

Many of the roads nominated have undergone or are undergoing significant improvements.

The success stories of the campaign are primarily attributed to the government’s prioritization of infrastructure through multi-year capital investments.
