New and enhanced programs will help Ontario families and businesses save money and energy.
First, the Ford government’s launching the Peak Perks program, that’ll provide families with a $75 incentive this summer in exchange for giving their smart thermostat manufacturer secure access to their air conditioning to lower temperatures at peak times.
There would be up to 10-occasions during such periods where the setting would be adjusted two to four-degrees.
The province says this would typically last for no more than three-hours, would not be on weekends or holidays
and participants could opt out at any time.
They would also receive an additional $20 for every year they remain in the program starting next year.
There are about 600,000 smart thermostats installed in Ontario.
In addition, the government is launching three new and enhanced programs for businesses, municipalities and other institutions.
