Just in time for the first long weekend of the summer, gas prices jumped 4 cents a litre over night to an average of $1.56.9 across most GTA stations.
And that’s not the end of it. Prices are expected to jump another penny by tomorrow and then another 2 cents by Sunday.
Dan McTague is president of Canadians for Affordable Energy and says yes prices are rising, but not yet to where they were a year ago when they hit $2.13 per litre.
To make matters worse, more ethanol is being used in gasoline blends to meet the new clean fuel standards. McTeague says that means less mileage while using more gas.
