You’re in the audience taking in a concert with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra in England and all is well until a $30-thousand bow breaks as during a solo.
Stefan Jackiw, a Ukrainian-Korean virtuoso managed to swap the broken bow for one in much better condition and after a brief silence, the show continued.
The soloist said while the bows looked the same to the untrained eye “they feel was very different” and the whole episode took him by surprise. He says it ‘s violin strings that usually break, not bows.
