When his latest musical closes on Broadway, the curtain will also come down on Andrew Lloyd Webber’s 43-year streak of shows in New York.
“Bad Cinderella” is closing June 4th the result of poor ticket sales.
Its 33 preview performances and 85 regular performances failed to generate any Tony nominations, played last week to houses that were little more than half full and bringing in just $326-thousand. That made “Cinderella” the lowest-grossing musical on the Great White Way.
Lloyd Webber has enjoyed a wildly successful run with hit musicals like “Cats,” “Evita” and “The Phantom of the Opera.,” However, “Bad Cinderella never made it to that category .
