Toronto’s deputy mayor is in favour of renaming Yonge-Dundas Square “Lightfoot Square” in honour of the late Canadian music legend who called Toronto home for much of his adult life.
Jennifer McKelvie says there will be a memorial for Lightfoot in the city with a decision on where and what that might be, that could come this week.
There are currently two proposals before council, one a statue, the other naming a specific day “Gordon Lightfoot” Day.
There is also a push from the co-owner of Barbarians Steak House to rename Yonge-Dundas Square for the late musician who died last week at the age of 84.
