Concern over the security of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant is growing, according to the director of the U.N.’s nuclear watchdog.

Rafael Grossi’s comments on Saturday came following the governor of the Russia-occupied area ordering the evacuation of a town where most plant staff live amid ongoing attacks within the area.

The factory is close to the battlefront. Additionally, Russian forces fired more than 30 shells at a Ukrainian-held hamlet close to the plant on Sunday, according to Ukrainian authorities, resulting in the death of a 72-year-old woman and others being injured.

”The general situation in the area near the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant is becoming increasingly unpredictable and potentially dangerous” cautioned Grossi.
