The rhinestone-studded crown Freddie Mercury wore after singing ”We Are the Champions” during Queen’s final concert together in 1986 could be yours for the right price.
It’s estimated to go for $75,000 to $100,000 at auction in September.
The crown is said to be based on St. Edward’s Crown, that will be featured in King Charles III’s coronation next month.
It’s just one of the approximately 1,500 items going on sale, that will be exhibited in New York, L-A and Hong Kong during a tour in June.
They’ll then be sold over three days in September with a portion of the proceeds to go to charity.
Mercury had said he wanted to live a Victorian life surrounded by ”exquisite clutter,” that he left to close friend, Mary Austin, when he died of AIDS-related pneumonia in 1991 at the age of 45.
Sotheby’s says Austin, who’s kept most of it the way he left it in his home, had reached the ”difficult decision” that it was time to sell.
Everything.
From Mercury’s moustache comb, to artwork including prints or works on paper by Picasso and Matisse, to handwritten working lyrics for ”Killer Queen” and ”We Are the Champions.”
