It is a big day in Ottawa Friday, as the prime minister’s chief of staff testifies before the Procedure and House Affairs Committee in the afternoon.

Katie Telford is expected to address questions about alleged foreign interference in Canada’s last two elections.

For weeks, the opposition Conservatives have been demanding answers.

National security laws could limit what Telford reveals, but what she can talk about is to what extent Justin Trudeau was briefed on the allegations that the Chinese government tried to tilt the 2019 and 2021 elections in the Trudeau Liberals’ favour.

Former NDP MP Peggy Nash told Zoomer Radio’s Fight Back with Libby Znaimer, she’s doubtful much will come of Katie Telford’s testimony.

“She’s a pretty cool customer,” Nash explained, “I suspect she is going to say that whatever she knows she can’t say for security reasons, but we’ll see. There’s a reason why the Liberals fought so hard to prevent her from testifying. But now she is, and we’ll see if she has anything new to say.”

Previous witnesses include the head of Canada’s spy agency CSIS and Foreign Affairs Minister Melanie Joly.
