He was the long serving guitarist who played an integral role in the rise and success of Swedish super group “ABBA.”
Lasse Wellander first worked with ABBA on their on their self-titled 1975 album and became the main guitarist on their subsequent LPs.
He died over the weekend of cancer.
In a statement, the group said the importance of his creative input in the recording studio as well as his solid guitar work on stage was immense.
As a guitarist or producer he was credited on more than 6,300 songs in total by numerous artists and released several solo albums.
Lasse Wellander was 70.
