Hydro Quebec is now saying it will take one more day to get everyone back on the electrical grid following last Wednesday’s devastating ice storm.
More than 35,000 customers remain without power across Quebec as of 12 p.m. Monday, with the majority in the Montreal, Outaouais, Montérégie, and Laval regions. At the peak of the outage about 1.1 million homes and businesses were without power.
The public utility has brought in additional crews to address the power outages, with nearly 800 workers currently performing repairs in Montreal. In total, 1,600 workers are repairing power lines in all areas.
A greater number of power outages remains in the West Island due to the area having a greater amount of outages initially.
