It’s five down, eight to go after Ontario and all Atlantic provinces have reached health-care agreements in principle with the Trudeau government.
At the first minsters’ meeting on health-care earlier this month saw all the premiers accept Ottawa’s offer of more than $46-billion in new funding over 10-years.
The federal government said $25-billion of it will be targeted at improving four areas; a ”modernized health system,” health workers and backlogs, mental health and substance use and family health services.
Since February 7th, Ottawa, the provinces and territories have been meeting separately to finalize individual deals to target those priorities.
Ontario was the first to announce an agreement.
Health Minister Sylvia Jones thanks Ottawa for agreeing with Doug Ford’s request to build in reviews to ensure sustainability and certainty.
”This additional funding will bolster Ontario’s investments in health-care as we implement our plan for convenient and connected care,” Jones tweeted.
