It’s Shrove Tuesday and that can only mean two things.
Pancakes….and…
the last day of Mardi Gras.
The day is called Fat Tuesday or Mardi Gras or Carnival Tuesday or Pancake Tuesday, depending on where the celebration is taking place.
It’s the traditional feast day before the start of Lent which is tomorrow, Ash Wednesday.
No matter the name, it’s a day of revelry that includes parades, parties and gastronomic indulgence and the last day of the Carnival season which is basically a six-week period of partying.
Mardi Gras is synonymous with Carnival celebrations in New Orleans, Venice and Rio, but the day is marked in similarly festive fashion in countries around the world.
