According to U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris, Washington has concluded that Moscow has violated international law in Ukraine.

On Saturday, she maintained that the offenders must receive “justice.”

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, Harris argued that the international community has a moral as well as a strategic interest in pursuing those crimes.

Harris also warned that if international law is compromised, other authoritarian countries may profit.

Last March, the Biden administration formally concluded that Russian troops had committed war crimes in Ukraine and pledged to cooperate with other parties in bringing offenders to justice.

Also at the conference, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak urged world leaders to “double down” on their support for Ukraine, arguing that the region needs to be armed and secure to stave off Russian aggression in the present and the future.

The Munich Security Conference is an annual meeting in Germany of heads of state, defense ministers and other world leaders.

This year’s meeting is focusing on threats to the accepted rules of international relations nearly a year after Russian troops invaded Ukraine.
