An eight-year veteran Toronto police officer has been charged in the April 2021 death of a 19-year-old Brampton man.
The Special Investigations Unit says that Constable Calvin Au faces one count of manslaughter and one count of aggravated assault in the death of Chadd Facey.
The provincial police watchdog says that two off-duty Toronto officers met and interacted with Facey in a Brampton park; allegedly over a fake Apple watch, and that Facey was taken to hospital where he later died.
Cause of death has not been released.
Au’s to appear in court March 2.
The other officer has not been criminally charged.
Both face separate discipline charges for not reporting the incident.
