Canadians cleaned up at this year’s Grammy Awards, with pop favourites Drake and Michael Buble among the homegrown talents adding new gramophone trophies to their collections.

Buble’s Higher was named best traditional pop vocal album, while Drake won best melodic rap performance for his appearance on Future’s Wait for U.

Singer-songwriter Tobias Jesso Junior won the inaugural songwriter of the year, non-classical award, recognizing creators who penned some of the year’s standout pop tunes.

And the North Vancouver native won a second Grammy for co-writing Boyfriends for Harry Styles’ Harry’s House, which won album of the year.

Also at the Grammys, Vancouver native Kris Davis was part of a team who won best jazz instrumental album for New Standards Vol. 1.

Davis says winning the Grammy was a surreal personal accomplishment, but one that was bigger than just her efforts.

She adds, the Grammy-winning album is part of a larger effort by the Berklee Institute of Jazz and Gender Justice in Boston, where she teaches.
