Ukraine’s President is pushing to have Russia banned from the 2024 Summer Olympics.

Volodomyr Zelenskyy has been persistent in his campaign that Russia should remain isolated and not be allowed to politicize its invasion of Ukraine.

Zelenskyy wrote a letter to French President Emmanuel Macron about banning Russia from the next Summer Olympics since Paris is the host city in 2024.

His latest plea was to Canada’s prime minister.

In his nightly address Tuesday, Zelenskyy says he told Justin Trudeau “any concessions to a terrorist state are unacceptable.”

“Attempts by the International Olympic Committee to bring Russian athletes back into the Olympic Games are attempts to tell the whole world that terror is somehow acceptable,” Zelenskyy said on January 27th in his nightly video address.

“It is obvious that any neutral flag of Russian athletes is stained with blood,” he added.

Zelenskyy’s comments came after the IOC announced in a statement on January 25th that Russian and Belarusian athletes would be permitted to compete as neutrals — athletes who do not represent their nations — at the Paris Olympics.

February 24th marks one year since Vladimir Putin’s Russian invasion began.
