NATO’s Secretary-General says China’s growing assertiveness and collaboration with Russia poses a threat not only to Asia but also to Europe.
Jens Stoltenberg made the remarks on Wednesday as he sought stronger cooperation more “friends” for NATO in the Indo-Pacific region.
Stoltenberg stated that NATO does not see China as an adversary or seeks confrontation, and that the alliance will continue to work with China on issues of mutual interest, such as climate change.
Stoltenberg and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida met on Tuesday and agreed to strengthen their collaboration in cyberspace, space, defense, and other areas.
NATO is also stepping up its “practical cooperation” with Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.
